CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics

We are all made of particles that formed in the first instants of the universe. Discover the tiniest constituents of matter and how they evolved to make the universe we see around us today. Find out what is happening at the Large Hadron Collider and meet the people who build and operate this extraordinary machine.

CERN is open to visitors wanting to book guided tours behind the scenes. In addition, two exhibitions are open to visitors without reservation – Microcosm and the Globe of Science and Innovation. For more information on CERN’s engagement with visitors, our travelling exhibition, multimedia development and object loan programme see cern.ch/visits
