International Directors Forum 2026

National Science Museum (NSM) - Bangkok, Thailand 17 & 18 August 2026

Overview

The 2026 International Directors Forum (INTEDIF) took place on 17 & 18 August and was hosted at the National Science Museum (NSM) in Bangkok, Thailand with sister network Asia Pacific Network of Science & Technology Centres (ASPAC). As Thailand’s national science museum, NSM invited both local and international visitors to explore science and technology through engaging, hands-on experiences.

Programme

The theme of the 2026 International Directors Forum (INTEDIF) was 'Evolving our Organisations Amidst a Rapidly Changing World'.

Discussions addressed the many dimensions of organisational sustainability and impact, new approaches to transforming operational challenges, models for collaboration and partnership, and new staffing and funding approaches. Participants also explored the implications of AI for science museums and centres, including how to remain human-centred while engaging the public with AI, as well as the relationship between AI and the climate and biodiversity crises.

Other key conversations focused on decolonising museums and developing new leadership approaches in the face of rapid technological and social change, including growing polarisation. Participants also had the opportunity to continue these exchanges by joining the 2026 ASPAC Conference in Bangkok directly afterwards, extending the dialogue and connections across the international science engagement community.
