2022 Ecsite Conference

experimenta - Das Science Centre, Heilbronn, Germany

2 - 4 June 2022

Overview

The 2022 Ecsite Conference welcomed over 1000 participants and was held at a very special place with a unique atmosphere: at a camp in the city of Heilbronn, hosted by experimenta science centre. With its surprising and unusual spaces, it provided places and moments to take a breath, reflect and for many inspiring encounters – and allowed us to look at the things we do from new perspectives. This year the programme focused on topics of the biodiversity and climate crisis, 21st Century Skills, as well as equity, diversity and inclusion.

Legacy

The 2022 Ecsite Conference contributed to the project Unser Wald von morgen (Our Forest Tomorrow). This project was run by the District of Heilbronn and aims to plant climate-stable tree species to enrich the forest or heal bare areas. The Heilbronn district is characterised by its mixed forests. However, the changing conditions under climate change have been taking a toll on the trees. By donating €10 from each Conference ticket to this project, Ecsite's legacy contributed to the restoration of the unique and valuable habitat that surrounds Heilbronn.
