JCOM Masterclasses for museums professionals: discounted rates for Ecsite members still available

There are still a few positions available for the course “Developing successful museums and science centres”. The course helps participants who are already, or plan to be, involved in projects such as science centres, visitor centres, museums, botanical gardens etc. to set their goals, to choose among current opportunities, to build up teams, to develop a masterplan, to choose a marketing and branding strategy, etc. Participants will have the opportunity to share and discuss their projects with colleagues and experienced tutors. The speakers, leading professionals in the field, will be available for a 1-1 problem solving session. The course will be held in Trieste (Italy), from 7 to 11 December 2015. Registration is still open also for another course of interest for museum professionals. “Facilitating the debate on the scientific and technological progress” aims to equip organisers of science communication activities, floor explainers, facilitators, and scientists with techniques and competences that allow them to successfully run innovative participatory activities such as consultations, discussion games, debates, science café and others. In this course participants from all over the world will have the opportunity to develop their own project with the help of speakers, tutors and colleagues. Some of the speakers at JCOM Masterclasses include: Sharon Ament (Director Museum of London), Andrea Bandelli (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Bojan Markicevic (Science Communication Consultant, Zagreb), Matteo Merzagora (Espace Pierre-Gilles de Gennes, Paris), Gordon Rankmore (Museum and Heritage Consultant), Paola Rodari (Project Manager, SISSA Medialab), Barbara Streicher (Executive Manager of the association ScienceCenter-Netzwerk, Vienna) and Phillip Tefft (Director The London Studio - Ralph Appelbaum Associates).

The fee for the course is 950 Euros. This sum is reduced by 30% (665 Euros) for Ecsite members and other networks and institutions. This fee covers the 5 days tuition, materials, lunches, refreshments and social dinner.
