Clayton Cutajar, Director at Esplora Interactive Science Centre in Malta, the 2023 Ecsite Conference host, shares what's keeping him entertained.
Preparations are in full flow for the Ecsite 2023 Conference in Malta hosted by Esplora.
Did you know that each Conference has it's own unique brand identity? This year the team at Esplora have incorporated a key element of Malta's cultural heritage, the Luzzu, into their design.
On Saturday 23rd July, Birgu’s Couvre Porte was decorated with the colours of Esplora as the science festival Esperimenta Tikka Xjenza was held with the main aim to bring the immersive world of science to the community. This festival was the science centre’s latest initiative to showcase that science can be entertaining and accessible to all.
Esplora Interactive Science Centre has always strived to provide a fully accessible visitor experience and the new multisensory room project fully supported by Bank of Valletta p.l.c. will give people with physical, intellectual, emotional or behavioural disabilities an enhanced inclusive experience.
The Kenup Foundation (www.kenup.eu), EDU (medical.edu.mt) and the Malta Council for Science and Technology (mcst.gov.mt) organized a press conference at Esplora on the 14th of April 2022, during which an update was given about their joint ‘Ukrainian Families Adoption’ initiative. The Kalkara offices housing Kenup and EDU staff have been transformed into a residence for ten Ukrainian families fleeing their war-torn country.

The Malta Council for Science and Technology for and on behalf the Foundation for Science and Technology is launching a Call for Expressions of Interest for artists to submit proposals from design, to installation of art pieces with a science related theme for the Esplora National Interactive Science Centre, Marina Street, Bighi, Kalkara.
In 2015, the Malta Council for Science and Technology will open the doors to the National Interactive Science Center, a complex that will occupy several of the most imposing and magnificent buildings overlooking the entrance into the Grand Harbour in Malta. The site comprises of 4 buildings and an outdoor space each of which will be pivotal to displaying exhibits and presenting live science. One of the buildings will be a stunning 10.7 meter in diameter planetarium, where a complete Colorspace 4K theater system will be built and installed.
The project is being considered for co-financing by the European Union/Government of Malta, in accordance with the rules of European Regional Development Fund (2007-2013) – Investing in your future programme.
