artist Theo Jansen, known for his kinetic sculptures called
Strandbeests. The international critic defines him as
"a modern Leonardo da Vinci".
These huge beach animals move with the force of the wind.
Thanks to primitive sensors they are able to evolve, with
one unique purpose: survival.

6 days packed with lectures, museum visits, interactive workshops, discussion games and experimental activities to discover how to use museums as educational resources for teaching and learning in science. Teachers and museum educators will work side by side to improve their facilitating skills and support active engagement for the development of scientific citizenship.

A major exhibition dedicated to the changes that have marked the way we eat and the complexity of the food system.
The protagonists are the people: each of us in his/her relationship with food. Food production professionals, researchers and industry experts, teenagers and adults were all involved in the design of the exhibition.
Sharing, change, relationships and technology are the key words through which the Museum interprets the theme of Expo 2015.
From February the 12th to March 15th 2015, NO CURVES, artist and philosopher of the tape, will present, in collaboration with the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo Da Vinci of Milan, the exhibition EXP(L)ORATION.
Over 800 square meters of exhibition, including panels, installations, artistic interventions in some areas of the museum and of the massive Toti submarine.
The course is open to the international community of museum educators and school teachers aiming to create a diversified, trans-national group of participants each contributing their experience and expertise. Participants are required to register using the online form before 10 July 2015

We just published “Behind the Exhibit: Displaying Science and Technology at World’s Fairs and Museums in the Twentieth Century”, a book that examines scientific heritage and narratives in national and international exhibitions and science museums in the twentieth century.
Our food system faces many challenges and experts increasingly agree that a ‘systems approach’ is essential to guarantee Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) for present and future generations. But what is a ‘food system’, and what does the ‘systems approach’ mean in practice? A policy brief by the EU Think Tank of the FIT4FOOD2030 project and Ecsite member Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia 'Leonardo da Vinci shed light on these concepts.
“Tinkering EU: Building Science Capital for ALL” is the second project focusing on Tinkering funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the EU and coordinated by the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci. It addresses science education especially for schools in situations of disadvantage and intends to explore the use of Tinkering for the development of young people’s Science Capital.
Some months ago Milan was selected by ASTC to be one of the 2016 stops for the World Biotech Tour.
We will host the festival in September/October 2016, but we are now starting to work with our high school biotech ambas.sadors and their research mentors.
