Enter a world where nothing is as it seems, there are no rules and fun is engineered. Sail a yacht on land, build a tower on an unstable table, and meddle with the outcome of a do-it-yourself pinball machine. In Scitech’s latest feature exhibition, “Ingenious!”, visitors can make, tinker and engineer via a variety of hands-on and full-body experiences. In the tinker zone, visitors can build a car out of household materials such as straws, wood, paperclips, material, and core flutes and then test their automotive engineering on a race track.
The Planetarium Science Center at the Library of Alexandria is organizing a number of workshops that encourage school students to explore their creativity and help them find out how to use it in their life; all the while enriching their knowledge. In the workshops, students are able to interact with each other and with the world around them in an exciting and entertaining manner; they are guaranteed to have a blast!
During the period 27—28 November 2013, the Planetarium Science Center in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science & Technology and Maritime Transport, Regional Informatics Center (AASTMT/RIC) will hold a local robotics competition called Robotheca Alexandrina Olympiad (RAO). RAO is dedicated to students 12 to 18 years old. It comprises two categories; Diver Robot and Robofight category. In 2012 the PSC launched a Robotics educational program in cooperation with AASTMT/RIC. The program is composed of two levels, each comprising 10 hands-on sessions.

International Masterclasses are organized by IPPOG, the International Particle Physics Outreach Group and the Planetarium Science Center, at the third and forth floating rooms in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conferences Center. Each Masterclass is a one-day-activity taking place at a university or research institute. Researchers invite High school students, aged 16 – 19 and let them be scientists for one day. The core activity is a measurement with real data from CERN, provided by the experiments ATLAS, CMS, and ALICE, see: http://physicsmasterclasses.org/neu/index.php?cat=physics.

This exhibition at the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum explores the work of the Canadian artist Todd McLellan who has a passion for taking apart everyday technical objects, ordering them and photographing them. The photos created as a result of this process are art works that impress the viewer with their soberness and their austere simplicity. Enhanced by objects from the NHF, the 34 photos on show are being displayed for the first time in Europe.
