Make your content accessible to people all over the world! Get hands-on training to learn how the OSR online portal can be used in your science centre or museum to engage on-site and off-site visitors. Lunch and coffee will be provided to all participants. This workshop is free of charge, but you can also apply for grants to cover travel costs and two nights’ hotel accommodation. THE Group workshop: The visitor as a free learner: 24-25 May

THE Group’s two-day session focuses on visitors through a variety of practical workshops, presentations and discussions for explainers and those working with explainers in science centres and museums.

Evaluating the exhibit label: examining some beliefs and practices: 24-25 May

Who reads exhibit labels? How do labels affect the exhibit experience? Join this two-day course to learn about a variety of approaches like visitor generated labels, using new technology to present content and multiple language accessibility. Registration for the course is now open: just select the appropriate box in the online conference registration form.

REV Launch: The New Thematic Group for Research & Evaluation 25 May

Ecsite launches its new thematic special interest group, REV (research and evaluation) Group, during the second workshop day of Evaluating the exhibit label. This inaugural meeting will present the REV Group’s objectives in an interactive format. The formation of a steering committee and a strategic plan for the group will also be discussed. The REV Launch is open to all conference participants and is not limited to participants of the exhibit label workshop.

Nature Group workshop 25 May

Ecsite’s Nature Group offers a one-day workshop for those interested in the cross-fertilisation between natural history museums and science centres and museums through this unique platform for exchanging ideas.

Accessibility workshop 24-25 May

How can you make your science centre or museum more accessible to people with disabilities? What are the best practices in multi-sensory exhibit design? What kind of information, socio-political data, ideas and guidelines do you need to improve access to scientific and cultural content? This workshop is aimed at exhibit developers, facilitators and explainers, directors of museums or science centres, and professionals interested in accessibility projects.
