The Planetarium Science Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is hosting the “ Think Green” program to help in the environmental education of the children and youth.
the PSC Summer Program includes a unique workshop about the secrets of the legendary ancient Egyptians.In the first part, children learn the mummification process using a human model, know the chemical materials used during the process and make a canopy jars. In the second part, children will make a tomb model and discover the ancient Egyptian chemical elements as well as the different types of dyes.The target age is 6-11 years.
The Planetarium Science Center has been celebrating Eratosthenes Festivity every year since 2003 on 21 June, the day of the summer solstice. School students gather at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Plaza to measure the circumference of the earth. This is to honor the outstanding scientist and third director of the ancient Library of Alexandria, using the method that he had used 2000 years ago. 450 participants joined this enlightening experiment and benefited from the lectures given by eminent astrologers at the Bibliotheca Conference hall.
The Planetarium Science Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina has had the pleasure of hosting the National Youth Chess Tournament for boys and girls of ages 8, 10, 12 & 14 years. The tournament lasted for a week and included the opening ceremony, the matches and judging, the closing ceremony and medals and cups distribution. 120 participants came from all parts of Egypt, whether previous national and international champions or new players from the Egyptian Chess Federation.
The Planetarium Science Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is welcoming students that have registered to participate in the Center’ Summer Program that extends throughout the summer. Children, ages 4 to 16 divided into 4 age groups, enjoy a scheduled program of practical workshops, lectures, planetarium shows, and documentary movies. They have lots of fun practicing knowledge with the Center’ crew. This year the Program participants were about 1000 students from all school grades.

How would you react in a high-pressure scenario with people’s lives at stake? ‘Rescue’ is a unique, hands-on exhibition that focuses on the science and technology of rescue scenarios and emergency services. ‘Rescue’ puts you in charge as you discover what it’s like to be involved in land, sea and air rescues. Take control of a full-size helicopter simulator to get a bird’s eye view of a rescue scene and use infrared cameras to look for heat signals.

Thirty years have elapsed since ”la Caixa” Foundation’s Science Museum opened its doors in Barcelona. Following twenty-four years of activity and museological reflection, CosmoCaixa, as the museum is known today, came into being. Since then, it has received six million visitors as well as recognition from the European Museum Forum in the form of the European Museum of the Year Award 2006.
The exhibition “Imaging Education. 50 with Frato” is an invitation to think, to discuss ill thought practices, to imagine a change. At the same time it is an opportunity to show the intelligence and creativity of children and their ability to learn and build.
Science affects our daily lives and shapes our perception of the world. The engine of change is the desire to question everything around us. What revolutionary discoveries have we made concerning ourselves, our health, our planet and our universe within the past one hundred years?
The exhibition consists of Science Lounge and four themes displayed as flagship stores: Life and Mind, Better Health, System Earth and Beyond the Visible.
Science Changing the World is produced as a joint effort by four leading science centres located throughout Europe.

Knights and Castles, our traveling exhibition that gives a bright look at the dark ages, has arrived in its second location, LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn in Germany. First location was Museon in The Hague, third will be Museum Het Valkhof Nijmegen. After that it will continue on its tour through Europe, and by doing so, it symbolically links the life of people in today’s Europe to their shared medieval history.
Medieval characters, contemporary look
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls: the circus is coming to town! When commissioned to reimagine the kids’ gallery for Ciência Viva – an interactive science-and-technology centre in Lisbon – NorthernLight created a vibrant, colourful playscape reminiscent of the circus. Bold graphics, bright hues, dazzling lights and kaleidoscopic mirrors invite kids to perform and play, while reconnecting parents to their childhood memories. The discovery of a park meets the emotion of a circus: you can almost smell the nostalgic wafts of popcorn, candyfloss and caramel.
In February 2017 we were entrusted to design, develop and fabricate hands-on exhibits for the Children‘s Gallery and the Natural History Hall at the new Royal Alberta Museum (RAM). Since reopening on October 3, 2018, the new Royal Alberta Museum is now the largest museum in Western Canada at 39,000 sqm, with 7,000 sqm of exhibition space.

Helping to instigate change
In August 2018 a NorthernLight design team travelled to Sarawak in the Malaysian portion of Borneo. A dynamic state characterized by lush jungles, crystal-clear oceans and abundant wildlife, Sarawak – like every other place on earth – is unfortunately struggling with environmental issues. In a bid to help instigate change, NorthernLight is designing a Children’s Gallery for the island’s new museum.

Located right at the heart of Hong Kong, Loupe is a design incubation space set up to inspire creativity and provide a platform for local and international designers and artisans to engage with the general public. Loupe’s aim is to provide a creative environment dedicated to the art of jewelry-making and craftsmanship.
The guiding idea behind this project is to combine art and science and let them interact with each other. Through this integration of natural sciences and art, the thesis is to be taken up that natural science also has an aesthetic dimension and art also a cognitive dimension.
Hüttinger is giving young, up-and-coming artist Yanran the opportunity to exploit her artistic potential and realize her work with the support of German engineering.
