Porto #LivingLabCities discovery tour
Ready to take up a discovery tour? Just as life is everywhere, science is everywhere - especially in the swirling living lab each city is! We will equip you with a discovery kit and accompany you on a journey through the city centre of Porto.
Open your eyes: everything around you transforms into possible exhibits or experiments. The people you may meet, institutions you may see will turn into potential stakeholders or partners for your projects or your public engagement strategy. Become an explorer on a mission and share your findings life via twitter #LivingLabCities. Together we will explore and describe the interrelatedness of public engagement and urban ecosystems.
Meeting point: look for the flag with the colourful Ecsite logo in the Business Bistro.
Session speakers
As a “Science Tour Guide” Leonardo Alfonsi will explore new paths to create alliances between city stakeholders, citizens and scientists. He will take you to unexpected local venues, demonstrating how you could engage with new partners in the development of innovative formats and ideas. Together you will learn more about the enthusiasm and frustrations you will encounter in the attempt to embed "responsible" public engagement in your local territory.
Alessandra Drioli will focus her "Science Tour" on venues (architectures, churches, parks, skyline) and topics (art&science) fostering original ways to live, move, feel and look at our urban spaces. She will guide on a multi-sensorial journey made of signs, phenomena, vision, relation, story and much more to live the richness of every living and social space. Together you will try to imagine how this way of walking around can be part of activities for science festivals and events.
"Science Tour Guide" Markus Weißkopf will explore the inner city of Porto searching for the best places for public dialogues. Where could you discuss societal challenges with citizen or NGO's? How do you find the perfect venue for a local Student Parliament? Which is the best place for a science café or fishbowl discussion? Are there different venues for different target groups? Join him on a discovery tour to find unusual places for public engagement.
