Lessons learnt from explainers training schemes

We all have expertise on how to work with and inspire regular visitors. There are countless studies on how to engage different kinds of audiences. But do we really know how to work with and train our museum staff? Our human interface with the public is made up of individuals from very diverse backgrounds, whose job title varies from organisation to organisation In the last years several projects at local, national or international level, were dedicated to developing and testing training schemes to empower this human interface. THE group, the Ecsite thematic group dedicated to explainers, also facilitated discussions and training programmes. What has and hasn’t worked? What still needs to be done? Have we discovered the ultimate recipe? Participants are invited to share their own experiences.
