For three years, we have been in a global crisis. The world seems to be on fire as we are all following events in Ukraine and Iran. For a long time, many of us lived in a privileged condition that we took for granted. But our prosperity, our health, our planet, and a democratic social system are unfortunately not ‘normal’ but highly fragile and not only have to be looked after by all of us but also actively shaped.

How can our institutions become political and take a stand? How can we tackle the great crises of our time and support democracy through our exhibitions? How do we inspire people not previously interested in politics and democratic processes to get involved?

We must all prevent anti-democratic currents from gaining ground in Europe and worldwide. And we can only do that together by providing a critical authority for dealing with political, social and ecological realities. Let’s bring politics into our science museums and science centres!

This session is sponsored by Archimedes Exhibitions as a part of the 21st century skills conference track.
