The two days preceding the Ecsite Annual Conference (or so-called "pre-conference") are dedicated to in-depth workshops. A wide range of training courses will be offer in 2018, on experience design, social inclusion and diversity, marketing and much more.

The EMME Summer School is a training programme for science centre leaders. It aims to build the capacities of professionals working in the field of science communication in the Euro-Mediterranean and Middle East regions. The 3rd edition will be taking place at Città della Scienze in Naples, Italy, on 10-15 September 2017.

Forty science communicators from southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East attended the first edition of the Euro-Mediterranean and Middle East Summer School of Science Communication (EMME) at Parque de las Ciencias (Granada, Spain). Training was delivered in strategic planning, management, exhibition development, new technologies and learning methodologies.

The Open Science Resources summer school aimed to offer to teachers from all over Europe the chance to get acquainted with open educational resources repositories and be trained to use existing materials and relevant tools so as to design top quality educational activities that may be easily retrievable and available at anytime from anywhere. Besides the main training sessions, participants had the opportunity to engage in activities that will offer them plenty of information about the integration of new technologies in the current teaching practices.
