Personalised visitor experiences

Personalisation is a strong mechanism to increase the impact of visitor experiences. Not every visitor is the same: think of languages, interests, expectations, knowledge, behaviours or (special) needs. We want to ‘touch’ visitors by creating resonance between our audience and our stories. Personalising messages allows you to communicate stories in a way that is tailored to each visitor, answering what seems to be an increasing demand for an even more personal approach in interactive exhibitions.

In this session we’ll walk through various visitor journeys and three different experience centres will share the challenges, limitations and opportunities they encountered in developing a personalised experience for visitors before, during and after their visit.

Personalisation offers endless creative possibilities. To create personal interactive experiences, you need a solid platform to build on. Kiss the Frog has developed a modular set of products to power a personalised visitor journey. In this session they will talk about the architecture of their solutions and present tips and tricks for attendees who are in the process of creating their own personalised experience.

LEGO® House is a newly opened interactive experience centre located in Billund, Denmark. The mission with the house is to inspire and develop LEGO® fans of all ages to think creatively, reason systematically and discover the endless possibilities for play and learning with the inspiring LEGO brick. The guest visit is enhanced by a ‘digital layer’. As the guest moves through the experiences, a customised RFID wristband allows them to interact with digital touchpoints that will assist them in capturing their LEGO House creations.

The Pulse Plaza is a highly interactive exhibition which combines physical interaction with digital interactives. The exhibition will get the whole family moving. It uses a control system to provide assignments to the visitors and store their results. In this session Mette Stentoft will highlight the process of creating Pulse Plaza with its wins and losses. She will be able to tell the stories behind the nearby exhibits in the Experimentarium.

Sound & Vision
Hilversum

Since the opening of the Sound and Vision Experience in 2006, a special RFID chipped ring has been an integral part of the visitor experience. The ring lets visitors choose their own guide, use all interactive pavilions and save their creations - such as their performance as news anchor, pop star or radio disc jockey. In this session Karen Drost will share what Sound and Vision has learned in terms of usage and visitor experience. Karen will also give a glimpse of the future, how the concept of the ring can evolve to an even more personalized visitor experience for the new, to be developed, museum.
