Strategy & vision

The sustainability of the Ecsite Conference has been a hot topic for several years. If climate crisis is one of the community's strategic commitments - how do we make sure that our annual meeting's negative impact on the environment is minimised? Through the years, various institutions hosting the event introduced solutions to lower its carbon footprint. It is time to take stock of them and map the potential areas for improvement. Leveraging our community's experience let's us plan the next steps towards a sustainable Ecsite Conference.

This session is part of the Biodiversity and climate crisis conference track.

Outcomes: what will participants get from this session? Skills, knowledge, experience etc.

Participants will learn about the different experiences of several Ecsite Conference hosts in making the event more sustainable.

Participants will share existing and brainstorm new solutions for a greener conference.

The legacy of the session will contribute to a shared resource on best practices for sustainable events.
