Paper Chromatography

Chromatography is a method used for separating substances from one another.

It is a very sensitive way of checking, for example, that only permitted colourings are used in foodstuffs and for testing inks used in suspected forgeries. In this exhibit you can investigate the dyes used to make coloured inks.
