Natural History Museum of Geneva

We are the largest natural history museum in Switzerland.
Founded in 1820, the Museum employs more than 100 people, including 30 scientists.

Our main missions are:

  • conservation and protection of our natural history collections, consisting of about 15 million specimens
  • research (biodiversity, systematics, earth sciences)
  • communication and education

Between 250,000 and 300,000 people visit the Geneva Natural History Museum each year.

The Natural History Museum of Geneva also runs another museum in the city: the History of Sciences Museum.
