Call for proposals

Ecsite Annual Conference 2019

Pushing boundaries
Copenhagen, Denmark 6 June 2019 - 8 June 2019
#Ecsite2019

Call for session proposals is open. Team up and pitch your session by 18 October.

The programme of the Ecsite Conference is put together by the Annual Conference Programme Committee (ACPC), whose members are science engagement experts and representatives of conference hosts. The three days of main conference (6-8 June 2019)  count 100+ parallel sessions and the two days of pre-conference (4-5 June) up to 10+ whole-day workshops. These sessions are the result of a bottom-up process: professionals working together to shape and deliver learning experiences for their peers.

In this anniversary edition, all conference sessions will be held inside the Experimentarium science centre that re-opened its doors to the public with 18 brand new exhibitions in January 2017. The building is the former home of the Tuborg Brewery. Besides "standard" panel and workshop rooms, it also offers opportunities to hold sessions in unusual places: the Experimentarium team and the Conference Programme Committee selected ten locations, presented in a catalogue of spaces:

We are hoping that this in-situ edition will inspire you to create and propose new session formats.

If you're a first time speaker

Don’t be shy: we particularly welcome contributions from you! Use the Conference Forum to team up with others – trust us, it does work even if you don’t know anybody (yet)!
In fact, to help attract new faces, for the fourth year running Ecsite is offering 20 free one-day passes to speakers who can convince the ACPC that they will contribute novel topics, angles or session formats. Read more about our "fresh ideas" scheme and apply by 18 October.
Light-hearted introduction: check out the video put together by our Ecsite office colleagues two years ago.

Even if you know the process well...

We advise you to read carefully the frequently asked questions. There are some updates on the roles of speakers & convenors and the possibility to pitch for specific session spaces.

Submit a successful proposal

The ACPC receives numerous proposals and devotes a lot of time and attention to their review and selection, following a carefully orchestrated process to ensure fairness and quality. Read their criteria for a successful proposal.

Don't let money be a problem

With Erasmus +, colleagues got up to €10.000 for their professional mobility projects on past years. You could be next! Follow our user-friendly guide that unentangles the scheme for you.
