Call for proposals

Ecsite Annual Conference 2019

Pushing boundaries
Copenhagen, Denmark 6 June 2019 - 8 June 2019

Call for session proposals is closed.

The programme of the Ecsite Conference is put together by the Annual Conference Programme Committee (ACPC), whose members are science engagement experts and representatives of conference hosts. The three days of main conference (6-8 June 2019)  count 100+ parallel sessions and the two days of pre-conference (4-5 June) up to 10+ whole-day workshops. These sessions are the result of a bottom-up process: professionals working together to shape and deliver learning experiences for their peers.

The call for session proposals closed on 18 October and the ACPC is now evaluating all suggested sessions. They will meet in Brussels for a 3-days meeting, in which they'll debate which sessions to accept, which sessions to leave out, which topics aren't being covered at the Conference, etc.

The outcome of this meeting will be shared with you by mid-December. You'll then be notified if your session was accepted, accepted with conditions or rejected. Those sessions accepted or accepted with conditions will have until 24 January to polish their abstracts, speakers contributions, etc.

On 24 January, sessions will be locked and the Ecsite office will start working on the conference programme that will be launched together with the opening of online registrations: 13 February.

If you missed the call for proposals

  • Subscribe to receive our news in your inbox, that way you won't miss next year's call.
  • Come back to this webpage by mid-December and browse which sessions have been accepted. If you think your contribution is of relevance to one of these accepted sessions, contact the convenor and ask if you'd be welcomed as a speaker. Note: most sessions will be completed, so don't take it personally if the session cannot accommodate your contribution anymore. Ecsite Conference sessions are often participative, feel free to join the session as a participant and enjoy not having to be in charge of making it a success!
  • Special cases: touring exhibitions and collaborative project showcase. These are pitch based sessions that are available on a first come, first served basis. There are slots still available, check out more information about the touring exhibitions and more information on the project showcase, on our FAQ dedicated webpage.
