Committee

  • Chairperson
I find the role of museums in society intriguing, important and challenging. I work as the association manager of the Dutch network of science museums and science centers. I am the chair of REV, the thematic group of the European network of science museums that focuses on research and evaluation. I also work as guest lecturer at the Reinwardt Academy of museology in Amsterdam, where I teach about museums and participation.

  • Steering Committee
I am a researcher at University College London, working on the evaluation of the Space Awareness project, and at King’s College London, focusing on the Enterprising Science project, which explores the concept of science capital. I am also CI on ASPIRES2, a nationwide longitudinal study examining factors that contribute to, or hinder, children’s interests and aspirations in science. My broader research and evaluation interests build on my PhD thesis (on school trips) and previous work in children’s museums and educational publishing, and include learning and engagement in early years, families and school groups in informal science environments.

  • Steering Committee
Starting as a theatre director, I have been working in all fields of the arts: as an executive producer of international theatre and dance productions as well as the administration director of the Solothurn Film Festival. Before joining Technorama, I worked as consultant for not-for-profit organizations, mostly for museums and festivals, but also for governmental bodies. Against this professional background, my special interest lies in the multiple ties and relations between art and science. I routinely perform as saxophonist, also with the Ecsite Jazz Band at the annual conferences.
