Ecsite is currently conducting a fundamental review of its strategy to look ahead and build a stable, solid future for the entire network. All Ecsite members are invited to take part in this process and join the discussion throughout the year by participating in strategy design activities.
Design “future of science engagement”
During these virtual design workshops, participants will be invited to define trends within and outside the science engagement field, stretch their mind with design thinking methodologies, creative activities and tools and gain new insight on possible scenarios for the future of science engagement.
All the workshops will be facilitated by Anatal Perlin, a highly experienced strategy consultant, specialised in speculative design methodologies on future topics.
Join one of the virtual workshops on a topic that matters to you
To ensure that all Ecsite members can be involved in the strategy process, five virtual (online) workshops are organised in March and April. While the in-person design workshops don’t have a theme, four of the five virtual workshops will. The workshops will be looking into the future of science engagement from the angle of the topics listed below:
- Education and learning (9 and 13 March, 13:00-14:30 CET): How should and how will education and learning evolve in the light of societal and technological shifts and innovations?
- Climate and biodiversity crisis (17 and 24 March, 13:00-14:30 CET): As science engagement organisations, do we have a role to play in addressing climate change, the loss of biodiversity and other sustainability issues? If so, what are these roles? What are the trade-offs of each of these roles?
- Equity (23 and 30 March, 13:00-14:30 CET): As science engagement organisations, how do we change who we are and what we do to be relevant to all members within our community?
- Challenging participation (8 and 15 April, 13:00-14:30 CET): How does fostering participation challenge our organisation? To what extent are we willing to give up control?
- Non-thematic design workshop (17 and 24 April, 15:00-16:30 CET)
In practice
- A workshop consists of two parts of 1h30 each, scheduled on two different days. You need to attend the first part to join the second one
- All Ecsite's members colleagues in all job roles are welcome: director, facilitators, curators, marketers, learning professionals, exhibition developers, etc.
- Registration is free of charge and on first-come, first-served basis with a restriction of one person per organisation. If needed, a waiting list will be set up.
- The workshop will be held in English
- Participants will receive a link to the virtual meeting after registration.
