Storytelling and games for engaging exhibition experiences

Storytelling and games are universal products of the human experience and are present in all cultures. Not only do they provide the groundwork for meaningful social interactions, they also play an essential role in the development of the human brain and in learning.

While storytelling has been incorporated into the museum experience for years, the same cannot always be said for games. This has been evolving as technology becomes ubiquitous in our everyday lives. Technology has been re-shaping how we communicate, how we gather and share information, how we learn and how we play. But how can we transfer this to the museum experience? How can the potential of these technologies be harnessed to create environments where meaningful interactions are encouraged?

This panel explores ways in which museums use storytelling and games to create engaging exhibition interfaces. Specific case studies will be presented with concrete tips, pros and cons as well as venues for further exploration.
