Science capital in context: approach, impact, and changes

We at the Science Museum Group, Finnish Science Centre Association, and Danish Museum of Science and Technology will share what adopting a science capital-based approach means to us and how we work with science capital in our individual local contexts. We will delve into current projects to show what science capital looks like in practice for us as institutions.

This session will include interactive elements and dialogue. What does science mean in different cultural contexts? Does engagement with more diverse audiences require new capacities for science centre and museum professionals? Are you doing this work already but not reaping the rewards?

From asking what science and science capital means in different environments and learning about what science capital looks like in practice (and its impact), this session will challenge you to think about specific issues and viewpoints around inclusivity and provide you with ideas that drive engagement and can be scalable and relevant.
