Many science centre managers feel like “kamikaze pilots” trying to manoeuvre in the rugged waters of science centre management, facing risks and uncertainties from early planning throughout financing and into implementation. Risk and uncertainty are however inevitable elements in the operation and development of a dynamic and innovative science centre. In this session we will give examples and discuss management tools applicable to gain control and foresee operational risks in running and financing science centres and museums.
