Today, Ecsite hosted a dedicated workshop in Warsaw as part of the initiative Supporting Science Engagement in Mathematics in Ukraine. This training marked the launch of a new project supported by the Simons Foundation and implemented in collaboration with the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (JASU), Imaginary, and TRACES.
The full-day session brought together 15 Ukrainian professionals working in science engagement and informal education. Designed to support their efforts in complex and changing environments, the workshop introduced creative methods for communicating mathematics and engaging local audiences. Through practical activities, interactive and hands-on tools for communicating mathematical ideas, and group exchange, the facilitators from TRACES and Imaginary guided participants in exploring tools for co-design, inclusive participation, and contextualised communication.
Held at the Copernican Revolution Lab of the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, the training preceded the Ecsite Conference 2025, held from 3 to 5 June, where the Ukrainian delegation will attend sessions, join deep dive workshops, and present their work alongside project partners.
This initiative reinforces Ukraine’s science engagement capacity and fosters meaningful international collaboration, while making mathematics accessible and relevant to diverse communities across the country.
This program is funded by Simons Foundation International and administered by the Simons Foundation’s Science, Society & Culture division.
