Miriam Atienza top tips

This month we are pleased to hear from Miriam Atienza, newly elected Ecsite Board Member and Director of Content at The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. Let's find out what keeps Miriam inspired:

Listening to – I enjoy playing the piano, listening to a wide variety of music and I really like to dance. My favorite is classical music but I like Spanish, English and French music, pop music, and current artists like Billie Eilish, Cold Play, Ed Sheeran, Rosalía, but also Michael Jackson and Queen.

Reading – I am always reading several books at the same time. I really like novels, historical novels and Hispanic literature. Three of the last ones I have finished are "Roma soy yo" by Santiago Posteguillo, "Views of Nature" by Alexander von Humboldt" and "Volver la mirada. Ensayos sobre arte" by Félix Azúa.

I try to keep up to date with both science and art through publications, websites and social networks such as Investigación y Ciencia, Descubrir el Arte or Tendencias.

Following – I follow a lot of Art and Science Museums, Spanish as well as European ones that are also members of Ecsite to see what's new. Key Spanish ones are Parque de las Ciencias de Granada, CosmoCaixa in Barcelona, Museo del Prado and Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid. From further a field I follow amongst others La Cité de Sciences et de la Industrie in Paris and the Museum of the Future in Dubai

Recently visited - I went to the Biennale in Venice, Heilbronn for the Ecsite 2022 Conference and twice to the city of Malaga, the last one to open the travelling exhibition of the artist Arne Quinze with which City of Arts and Sciencies is collaborating.

Planning to go - I'm planning to go to Balearic Islands, one of my favorite places in summer, especially Formentera and Menorca.
