At-Bristol has an exciting opportunity to join their energetic team of science communicators and facilitators. You will bring their galleries and open spaces to life by delivering a range of programmes such as planetarium shows, science shows, experiments, story-telling, and hands-on activities, to promote and enhance the visitor experience, as well as assisting visitor interaction within At-Bristol's exhibition spaces.
Experience and knowledge
- Education to equivalent of ‘A’ level standard or above in a science, maths or engineering subject with GCSE/ O’ levels to include Maths, English and Science.
- Previous experience in leisure or educational environment preferred
- A strong interest in science, technology and the environment is essential.
- An awareness of current science issues is desirable
- Previous experience of working with public and/or school audiences is essential

- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to confidently present to and engage large audiences.
- Strong customer service and listening skills
- An appreciation and understanding of customer needs and expectations
- Ability to enthuse and respond appropriately to audiences of different age, ability and interest.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to organise time and resources
- Good problem solving skills
Contract: Part-time
Hours: Working 3/4 days in 7 (working an average of 3 weekends out of 4) with the potential of working additional days up to 5 days per week.
Salary: Average annual salary: £16,500 - £17,500 (pro rata). Hourly rate of £8.42 per hour - rising to £8.84 on completion of probation period.
