Editage supports the work of top young European scientists at European Science Open Forum 2018

The EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) 2018, the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe, was held in Toulouse, France, from 9 to 14 July 2018. Organized every two years by EuroScience, the biggest grassroots science organization in Europe, ESOF is attended by scientists, innovators, policy makers, business people, and the general public. ESOF2018 marked the first time Editage collaborated with EuroScience to provide active support to the European science community.

A distinguished EuroScience jury selects winners of the prestigious annual European Young Researchers’ Awards (EYRA) for PhD candidates and postdocs (in alternate years). Editage was given the opportunity to showcase the work of the 2017 PhD and 2018 postdoctoral EYRA winners via a package of enriched content assets such as videos and infographics. Editage also helped the 2018 EYRA finalists with engaging audio-visual presentations on the basis of which a special EYRA 2018 Popular Prize was awarded. In acknowledgement of Editage’s contribution to the cause of young scientists, Satyajit Rout, Head – Research Communication Services, addressed an invitation-only gathering of top grantees and European funders on the topic of science communication practices.

“ESOF2018 was a fantastic opportunity to understand the landscape of scientific research in Europe by having engaging conversations with early and mid-career researchers and exchanging notes with funders, policy makers, and science journalists. It is rare to find such a diverse mix of science stakeholders under one roof and that is why I felt privileged on Editage’s behalf to be supporting the work of promising young European scientists,” remarked Satyajit.

ESOF 2018 was attended by 4000+ delegates from around 80 countries and more than 400+ journalists and science communicators. This year’s sessions comprised of more than 150 conferences, workshops and scientific sessions. About 200 events were thrown open to the general public, which were attended by more than 35,000 participants.
