As universities, research institutes and organizations all over the world have come together to celebrate 2013 as a special year for the Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE), Croatian scientists developed a special project to raise awareness of such important year.

Dr.sc. Franka Miriam Brückler (Zagreb, Croatia) leads a team of science communicators that will visit four Croatian cities and through interesting lectures, workshops and exhibits educate and hopefully interest younger population for topics like “Snow White and the seven crystal systems”, “Tricks, ropes, beakers, molecules”, “Gambling, football, crime and earthquakes”, etc.

Project is co-organized by Aquis, ECSITE member, NGO Creatom, NGO Professor Balthazar and French Institute, while exhibitions will take place at Alliance Française’s premises.

It will all begin in Osijek (Eastern Croatia, 24th and 25th of April) then will go to Split (seaside, Southern Croatia, 11th of May) and will have a great part in second Croatian Science picnic in Zagreb on September 15th and 16th with special guest, prof. Mireille Chaleyat-Maurel from Paris-Descartes University. Fourth station will be Rijeka (Western Croatia, during month of October).
