This marine science eBook is an introduction to phytoplankton, the tiny microscopic plants in the oceans and are at the start of marine food chains. It tells an exciting story designed to infuse teaching about the phenomenon known as Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) across the sciences.

Launched on Monday 13 March at the National University of Ireland, Galway, its development proceeded in line with the values guiding the Sea Change project: a collaborative design process shaped by feedback from EU partners, teacher consultants, pedagogical educators, scientists, and a research led design study that involved classrooms in Ireland, Belgium and Sweden.
