The First International Day of LGBT+ People in STEM is taking place today, on 5 July 2018. 

The three organisers are Pride in STEM, House of STEM and InterEngineering. Ecsite counts among the action's supporters.

Experiences will be shared all day on social media with the #LGBTSTEMDAY hashtag and events are taking place throughout Europe and beyond. 

As the organisers write: "We hope that the International Day of LGBT+ People in Science and Engineering can help:

• Improve the visibility and representation of LGBT+ scientists through public engagement and with scientific and academic communities.
• Strengthen the community of LGBT+ people working in STEM and STEMrelated fields by connecting with key partners
• Improve support and resources for LGBT+ scientists by highlighting the challenges faced by the community and proposing solutions and strategies to universities, organisations and governing bodies."
