OSR Portal wins 2011 OPAL Award for Quality and Innovation

The OSR Portal is the winner of the Award for Learning Contexts of the OPAL Awards 2011 for Quality and Innovation Through Open Educational Practices. The prize has been awarded during the 2011 edition of the Online Educa Conference which was held recently in Berlin (www.online-educa.com/, 30 November – 2 December). Eleftheria Tsourlidaki from Elinogermaniki Agogi, Greece. as well as Marzia Mazzonetto, Projects Coordinator at Ecsite, and Claudio Dondi from the Menon Network (both based in Belgium) proudly collected the prize. The Open Educational Quality Initiative including UNESCO, ICDE, EFQUEL and several European Universities supports open educational practice in higher and adulta education. The OPAL Awards recognise excellence in Open Educational Resources (OER) policy, promotion and use, and quality and innovation in educational organizations. During the session the winning projects from policy bodies, institutions and learning contexts were presented. A discussion between the public and some of the representatives of the projects on the projects’ relevance and transferability followed. The Open Science Resources (OSR) is a collaborative project coordinated by Ecsite and is co-funded by the European Commission under the eContentplus programme. The project started in June 2009 and will continue until May 2012.
