Prix Ars Electronica

The Prix Ars Electronica is the world’s most time-honored media arts competition. Winners are awarded the coveted Golden Nica statuette, prize money ranging up to € 10,000 per category and an opportunity to showcase their talents at the famed Ars Electronica Festival in Linz.

To participate in the Prix Ars Electronica, you must register online and submit all mandatory information online. A submission is complete and formally entered in the competition only if all information has been entered online and the submission has been finalised online. An entry confirmation will be sent out via e-mail as soon as all required documentation has been received.

STARTS Prize

The STARTS prize is the grand prize of the European Commission honoring Innovation in Technology, Industry and Society stimulated by the Arts.

S+T+ARTS=STARTS – Innovation at the Nexus of Science, Technology, and the ARTS: STARTS is an initiative of the European Commission to foster alliances of technology and artistic practice that effectively implement European policymaking to nurture innovation and that benefit the art world as well. The focus is on people and projects that contribute to mastering the social, ecological and economic challenges this continent faces.

One element of this STARTS Initiative is a prestigious award generously endowed with €40,000 in prize money. A yearly competition is held to single out for recognition innovative projects at the nexus of science, technology and the arts that have what it takes to make a significant impact on economic and social innovation. The two STARTS prizewinners each receive €20,000 and are prominently featured at Ars Electronica, BOZAR and Waag.

Just as with the Prix Ars Electronica, you must register online and sign in before you can submit an entry.

Projects submitted to the Prix Ars Electronica category can also be considered for the STARTS Prize; submission for both competitions is free of charge and ends on 2 March, 2020.
