On 24 September 2019 Commissioner Carlos Moedas and ERC President Jean-Pierre Bourguignon launched the first competition for ERC Public Engagement with Research Award. The aim of the award is to recognise the efforts and successes of ERC grantees who engage with audiences beyond the scientific community.
