Carlos Moedas from Portugal will be holding this portfolio in the new European Commission led by Jean-Claude Juncker. Until now he was Secretary of State to the Prime Minister. As the Portuguese government’s webpage explains, “he was a member of the Social Democratic Party team that negotiated the 2011 State Budget and was one of the party representatives at the meetings with the EU-IMF-ECB delegation to negotiate Portugal’s economic and financial adjustment programme.”
