Job: Research & Teaching Assistant in Science Communication

This is a permanent position at the Rhein-Waal University, Germany.

This is how Prof. Alex Gerber, Course Director at the Department of Science Communication, describes the position:

"You would primarily work with me in supporting existing and developing new research endeavours, offering exercises and project support in our Science Communication degree programme, and furthermore assisting the faculty in international marketing & PR practice. Even though we are an international university (80 % of our students and many of my colleagues are not from Germany), the PR support for our faculty also suggests a decent command of the German language. This is, however, not a criterion for exclusion either.

Combining the job with doing a PhD is perfectly possible but not required. The "two years" mentioned in the job advertisement relate to something like a probation period. Yet our intention is to attract a colleague who is looking for a long-term perspective. The position is not quite as well paid as the recently posted project vacancies (TVL 11 instead of 13), but the salary is still totally sufficient for a good lifestyle, particularly since the living costs here in Cleves are much lower than let's say in Cologne or Amsterdam.

Our campus is located in the heart of Europe, at the foot of the Cleves castle, right on the border between The Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium, between Amsterdam and Cologne, Brussels and Munster."

Apply by 3 December - all information here.
