The Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities is seeking a Public Engagement Officer for a full-time 3-year contract.

The Public Engagement Officer will be responsible for inspiring, training and facilitating the Centre’s researchers and support staff to reach out to key audiences, as we seek to inform them about our work, consult with them over its direction and collaborate with them on exciting new research. The role will provide opportunities to work with researchers to develop innovative and inspiring approaches to public engagement, which reach a wide range of participants and reflect contemporary and exciting questions in ethics and humanities.

Applicants must have a degree or equivalent experience and relevant experience in public engagement and a track record of designing and delivering successful public events and projects. They will also have experience using digital media (blogs, podcasts etc.) and excellent communication and organisational skills.

Based within the Nuffield Department of Population Health, the newly established Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities is a collaboration between the Ethox Centre; the Oxford Neuroscience, Ethics and Society Group; the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics; and the Wellcome Unit for History of Medicine. The Centre conducts research on the ethical and societal challenges presented by advances in neuroscience, big data, genomics, and global connectedness and their convergence.
