ISCSMD 2018: put your institution on the map

ISCSMD 2018 logo

In partnership with UNESCO, science centres and museums worldwide will be celebrating the third edition of the International Science Centre and Science Museum Day (ISCSMD) on 10 November.

This year theme will be « Science, a Human Right » in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its 27th article that proclaims: “everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life in the community, to enjoy arts and to share in scientific advancement and benefits.”

Seizing science as your right” will be our motto throughout this day. We encourage examples that deal with social inclusion, gender, academic freedom, access to scientific education and careers, co-creation initiatives or citizens' involvement in research agenda settings.

GET INVOLVED AND PUT YOUR INSTITUTION ON THE MAP

On 10 November we invite all science engagement organisations to join this global initiative by sharing experiences and showcasing the actions you’ve taken to help citizen to seize their right to science.

Few steps to go:

  • Create an activity or label a pre-existing one that relates to the theme “Science, a Human Right” or to the two closely related SDGs (Quality education and Gender equality)
  • Register it on the ISCSMD website so your participation will appear on the interactive map.
  • Use communication material available on the website's toolkit to help promote your institution's participation in the ISCSMD locally, including templates for use in social media, press relations, and broadcast emails, ISCSMD project information and logos and additional educational resources.
  • Don't forget to tell us; we will showcase your activities throughout the day.

More information on the ISCSMD website and on the dedicated Facebook page.
