Frontier European food research makes a stop in Poland

With more and more attention devoted to lifestyles and healthy living, diet has been in crosshairs for a while. But how to make sense of all the, often contradictory, information we are bombarded by nearly non-stop?

A good reference point is the science being conducted in this field and its conclusion. Nevertheless, the scientific landscape of food and healthy living can be often quite difficult to navigate. Scores of studies frequently reach opposing conclusions, leaving citizens confused and disoriented. Fortunately, the scientific method is based on repeatable experiments, which eventually refine the conclusions and eliminate faulty arguments.

The European Research Council (ERC) has been funding frontier science in Europe for almost a decade now. A lot of food research, for instance, presented groundbreaking conclusions and in October the Science center Experyment in Gdynia, Poland organized and hosted a series of activities presenting the latest ERC-funded food research not just in Poland but around Europe.

Three days of dialogue and public activities attracted a crowd of 1500+ people who came to satisfy their curiosity and interest in the ongoing scientific research. Hands-on experiments, multimedia content and presentations delivered by ERC grantees in Poland made for a great science experience.

With the next stop in Bulgaria in November, the ScienceSquared Food theme will pick up again in 2017 in Portugal. For more information about the event in Gdynia, please direct your attention to the attached press release.
