Participants at the Sea Change Final Conference, 15 February 2018, UNESCO, Paris (France)

Sea Change - What's been achieved

The Sea Change Celebration, the culmination of our engagement with Ocean Literacy, took place on 15 February 2018 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and concluded three busy years of empowering citizens towards Ocean Literate behaviours.

The conference focused on the project’s achievements and legacy plan for the coming years, and sought to maintain the momentum of Ocean Literacy by exploring how to link with initiatives worldwide in the run up to the upcoming Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).

The event coincided with the "Love the Ocean" campaign which saw social media being swept by a wave of empowering messages of love for the Ocean and concrete pledges for change, reaching 1.25 million citizens.

A specially launched Sea Change Celebration video gives an overview of the project’s achievements, while a Key Achievements booklet delves into 6 cases studies that empower, promote, engage, collaborate, ensure and create for Ocean Literacy.
