Call for new committee members – Ecsite Conference Programming committee (ACPC)

Due to the successful completion of Dorothée Vatinel, Sheena Laursen & Maria João Fonseca’s tenures, Brad Irwin, Chairperson of the ACPC and the committee are looking for new committee members to join them from December 2022.

The ACPC is responsible for the Ecsite Conference content programming, which includes agreeing the annual approach, reviewing conference feedback, deciding on and approaching keynote speakers and most importantly reviewing all call for proposal submissions and crafting the final conference programme.

Who should apply?

Critical to its success is a committee which is representative of the conference attendees. We are therefore looking for diversity with members from all backgrounds/fields/expertise, from across our network, working at all levels, across different geographies, and institution types.

We are looking for enthusiastic applicants whose ideas, team spirit and skills compliments and builds upon the current ACPC committee’s expertise and diversity.

Please note, this is an unpaid role and all costs including conference attendance should be covered by the committee member and their organisation. The commitment is also considerable including 2 in person meetings per year, plus several online calls and significant time in November/December to review all conference proposal submissions.

Ideally you should be available to attend the call for proposals review meeting 6-8 December 2022 in Malta and should commit to a 3-year mandate which is renewable once.

Application process

Please apply with key information about yourself and your area of expertise and answer the following question:

Why you? - You may use any medium you choose, preferably one which highlights your creativity. Please note, if you use video or audio it should be a maximum of 2 minutes.

Please send your application to: wGajewski@ecsite.eu

The closing date for applications is 30 September.

A shortlist of candidates will be invited to an online meeting with members of the current ACPC committee.

Final word

Dorothée, Exhibition Curator at Cité des sciences et de l'industrie in Paris sums up her experience on the committee beautifully.

”My 6 years as a Committee Member have been some of the best in my career. I have met wonderful colleagues, from incredible European institutions. Our work on the Ecsite Conference Programme for me was more than just a yearly event. I feel we have been building a strong and exciting European presence in the science communication field. I strongly encourage you to seriously apply for my position. Dare! If I could do it, you can too.”

Good luck & we look forward to hearing from you!

A final big thank you and best wishes to Dorothée, Sheena & Maria João.
