The Kavli Prize

The Kavli Prize recognizes breakthrough scientific achievements in astrophysics, nanoscience and neuroscience – transforming our understanding of the very big, very small and very complex.

Presented every two years, each of the three international prizes consists of $1 million USD. The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letter approves Kavli Prize Laureates based on unanimous recommendations of three independent prize committees. The Kavli Prize Laureates are celebrated in Oslo, Norway, in a ceremony presided over by the Royal Family, where they receive gold medals for their achievements.

The Kavli Prize was established in 2005 in partnership with The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, The Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research, and the U.S.-based Kavli Foundation.

The Kavli Prize is sponsoring Dr. Ewine van Dishoeck’s keynote lecture at the 2021 Ecsite Online Conference.
