Advocacy: doing it your way

Advocacy means secret meetings in dark parliament corridors, leaked documents in return for expensive favours and very big expense notes. It’s a world reserved to ambitious politicians, wealthy industrial lobbies and cynical spin doctors. Is it not?

Forget about "House of Cards" and hear how four real-life science engagement leaders developed an advocacy style that matched their organisations’ values without jeopardising their advocacy aims.

Whether you like it or not, advocacy cannot be overlooked. It might change your organisation slightly as it involves compromises and different working styles; but you will discover that it also offers opportunistic chances.

Sharing experiences at national, European and international levels, our speakers will discuss their journey to find the right voice, approaches and tools in a world whose codes and procedures can sometimes seem alien.

When it comes to influencing decisions within political, economic and social systems and institutions at a global scale, few platforms are more enticing than the World Economic Forum. Insights from Davos and other collaborations between Science Gallery and WEF will address the question: how do you combine diplomacy with selflessness and strong vision with opportunism, when you have access to the world’s leaders?
