Baghdad and the infinity

In Baghdad, visitors meet a series of historical mathematicians. The main character is Al-Khwarizmi, a mathematician who lived and worked in Baghdad in the 9th century. In order to take good care of his visitors, he is assisted by Hypatia from Alexandria and Brahmagupta from India and other mathematicians from history.

Want to increase people’s interest in mathematics? – rent the travelling exhibition Baghdad and the Infi nity Baghdad and the Infi nity was created in 2000 and subsequently developed so that it now covers large areas of mathematics. These have been integrated with culture and history in order to give visitors greater understanding. Visitors can touch, test, feel, think about, discuss, and explore mathematics. Everybody should feel that they can fi nd something fun in mathematics that they are good at. The subject is brought alive by using short drama presentations, historical costumes, mathematical materials and an exotic setting.

NAVET is a science centre in Borås, Sweden full of scientific, technical and mathematical wonders. With the aid of short dramas, experiments, visualisations and brain teasers, many different concepts and themes are treated. Context, development and creativity are important ingredients in all the work we do at NAVET. When these all combine to work together, they give the visitor knowledge, ideas and greater interest in technology, science and mathematics.
