Dear colleagues,
The Covid-19 pandemic is impacting our sector greatly and we are aware of how challenging this situation is for you and your organisations. The Ecsite Board met recently and given the current circumstances and the uncertainty and challenges of the months ahead, we will not be meeting in-person for the 2021 Ecsite Conference in Stavanger, Norway.
This decision was not taken lightly, however, it was important to make it this early in time to allow us to redirect resources, energy and creativity towards a digital offer tailored to your needs.
Our hosts, Jaermuseet and the Norwegian Petroleum Museum, have dedicated many efforts in starting the preparation of a physical Ecsite Conference and so many of you have spent precious time shaping Conference sessions. Thank you for your dedication! We are certainly disappointed we will not be meeting face-to-face next June, but we look forward to collaborating with you online - stay tuned!
We stay connected
We're deep in preparations for the upcoming 2020 Ecsite Directors Forum, hosted online by Technopolis, the Flemish Science Centre. Earlier this year, we also ran #EcsiteOnline, accessible to all and free to attend (and re-watch!).
In the coming months, we will continue our work on digital alternatives to ensure you have the right means to connect with your international peers, to discuss and exchange ideas, network and have fun!
The call for session proposals is suspended
We thank you all for working hard on your session and pre-conference ideas. The call is unfortunately suspended but your ideas and proposals might still come in handy for the new digital offer. We now ask you to halt your work on the proposals and be patient until you hear from us again (soon!).
Business & networking opportunities
The Business Bistro is also cancelled. Thank you to all exhibitors who already had booked a booth at our trade fair in Stavanger. We will be hosting an exhibit hall at the upcoming Directors Forum, online on 29 and 30 October. The Gold sponsorship packages are sold out but we're still welcoming exhibitors! We will continue to work with our sponsors and exhibitors to harvest the most out of our online events, and allow for the visibility and networking opportunities you need to make business. Reach out if you have suggestions for new types of partnerships!
The Ecsite app
We are pleased to see some of you using the Ecsite app to arrange meetups to network and brainstorm. If you haven't yet, the app is easy to download and use and will be a key tool for getting the most out of any online event we arrange in the future.
