The Ecsite Annual General Meeting happens every year in conjunction with the Ecsite Annual Conference – this year on 7 June 2013 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Full members will vote for a new President as well as for trustees of the Board.

The 2013 presidential election is significant since it is the first time Ecsite has launched a call for this position. Ecsite’s Internal Regulations, which stipulate an open call for presidential candidates, had not yet been adopted at the time of the 2011 elections.

The position of President is open to all Full members whose institution currently serves, or has served on the Board of Ecsite. The Ecsite Board verifies the eligibility of all presidential candidates with consideration paid to the geographical, gender and linguistic diversity of Ecsite’s leadership. All eligible candidates are invited to present their vision to the Ecsite Board during its meeting on 5 June 2013, in Gothenburg, at 13:00h. The Board itself recommends one candidate. At the Annual General Meeting, all eligible candidates are given the chance to present their vision for Ecsite to the Full members who will then elect their President from the eligible candidates.

I also invite all Full member representatives to join Ecsite’s governance by applying to become a trustee of the Board. Your ideas, input and views about our network are welcome and considered important for Ecsite. Board trustees will be elected by Full members during the Annual General Meeting. You will find attached a document presenting the procedure to submit your candidacy for the Presidency or trustee of the Board, as well as the composition of the current Board. The deadline to submit a candidacy for President or for a Board position is 19 April 2013.

Candidates can apply, if they wish, for both the Presidency and for becoming a Board trustee. If candidates apply for both positions, two separate candidatures need to be sent with two different documents.
