Changing society - New recipes for science centres

Science centres are constantly questioning their strategic plans and repositioning their institutions to answer today’s ever-evolving economic and social context. Have the ingredients of this “nouvelle cuisine” – stakeholders and audiences – changed? How can science centres adapt their recipes? New cultural and commercial activities are already being tested out, strengthening new alliances and partnerships to position our institutions in a new relation between science and society. Speakers from different horizons will report on trends in our field, taking into account the Mechelen Declaration, and will reflect on the following questions: - What is the place for science centres in today’s society? - How do they respond to the needs of growth and competitiveness? - How do they integrate emerging social needs?
