INSPIRE (INternational »Science Performance Is Ready« Event)

Hiša eksperimentov (The House of experiments), Ljubljana, Slovenia

It is an intense, hard working, highly interactive and rewarding five days workshop. We will go through the components needed to set up and run Science shows such as:choosing a topic for the science show (ScS), planning a ScS, adding humour without being silly, avoid mistakes and traps (and make some), engaging audience in active dialogue, developing acting skills needed for successful performance, communicating Science.

The organiser of this event is Hiša eksperimentov – the empowering centre for curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and active engaging.

It is a nano Science Centre – small in size but powerful with activities. Our ‘specialities’ are science shows (or Science Adventures) enriched with experiments, interaction, humour, dialog and improvisations.

It takes some time and effort to build a science show and we would like to share our experience with you.
We also organise ‘Sciencetival’ - the annual four days Science Festival on the bridges, squares and streets of Ljubljana (capital of Slovenia). Also this year Sciencetival will partly overlap with the INSPIRE workshop providing a perfect environment for the participants to test their learned skills in front of public.
The INSPIRE workshop is designed for activity or education departments and individuals who would like to acquire some knowledge from the field of creating and running science shows.
The number of participants for the INSPIRE event is limited to 12. Preference will be given in order of registration (first come-first served). Registration is limited to one participant per institution.
