We are the largest natural history museum in Switzerland.
Founded in 1820, the Museum employs more than 100 people, including 30 scientists.
Our main missions are:
- conservation and protection of our natural history collections, consisting of about 15 million specimens
- research (biodiversity, systematics, earth sciences)
- communication and education
Between 250,000 and 300,000 people visit the Geneva Natural History Museum each year.
The Geneva Natural History Museum also runs another museum in the city: the History of Sciences Museum.
