Birmingham City Council
Birmingham City Council is the UK’s largest authority responsible for delivery of a large number of services across the city (for example, education, social services, economic development). One recent focus is the co-development (along with other West Midlands and city-wide institutions, including business and universities) of policy and projects for Birmingham Science City. The Regional, European and International Division at the Council has become particularly involved in this work with the aim of making Birmingham an important knowledge economy nationally, on a European level and internationally. Work includes leading on a Framework 7-funded project on public engagement in science, Cities and Science Communication (CASC) which is engaging with a number of organisations across Europe, including science centres, local and regional authorities and business outreach organisations.
