Associazione Festival della Scienza

The Associazione Festival della Scienza (AFS), founded by the Italian Institute for the Physics of Matter and Codice-Idee per la cultura, is a non-profit consortium that groups public and private local Institutions and research networks with the institutional aim of managing and promoting the Genova Science Festival.

AFS Consortium composition:
* The Italian Institute for the Physics of Matter (INFM)
INFM is a public research Institute with consolidated experience in the organisation and management of initiatives aimed at the public awareness of Science. INFM will SUPPORT the Association in the coordination and financial administration and is also a distinct partner of this project

* Codice. Idee per la cultura
Codice is a publishing house mainly devoted to the scientific literature. It will assure the link with international scientific publishing and media. CODICE and INFM are the devisers of the Genova Science Festival and are involved in its organisation, management and promotion, also with respect to this project.

* Assindustria
Assindustria is a trade association grouping genoese Industrialists.

* DIXET
DIXET is a no-profit association which groups over 100 SMEs in the field of electronics, informatics, robotics, software development, Internet and e-activities.

* CONSORZIO INSTM
Inter-University Consortium for Material Science and Technology

* International Fair of Genoa
International Exhibition Centre located in Genova. It is a joint-stock company participated by Genova Municipality, the Province of Genova, the Chamber of Commerce and the Port Authority.

* Sviluppo Genova S.p.A.
It is a joint-stock company that promotes and coordinates initiatives directed to better the environment and change over industrial areas which are either disused or abandoned.

* INFN – Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare
The National Institute of Nuclear Physics – is an organisation dedicated to the study of the fundamental constituents of matter, and conducts theoretical and experimental research in the fields of subnuclear, nuclear, and astroparticle physics.

The Associazione Festival della Scienza has been established with the aim of promoting the organisation of a Science Festival in Genova. The Genova Science Festival is a parade of events such as exhibitions, conferences, meetings, etc. involving experts on scientific topics who investigate, discuss and transfer the scientific advanced knowledge to different types of audience.

Most initiatives are directed to the general public of all ages and with different cultural backgrounds. Other initiatives involve scientists and experts who are encouraged to establish an open and durable dialogue on scientific topics, taking into consideration the philosophy of science and its connection with other cultural issues.
